Our High Street desperately needs more policing. That is why Paulette has invited the West Midlands Chief Constable, to join her for a walk along Erdington High Street, to see and hear the challenges that our local businesses and residents are facing. Paulette will also raise with him the need for more police officers on our streets to ensure our safety and security.
Our High Street has been hit hard by the Tory Government’s cuts since 2010. This has resulted in reduced services, fewer police officers, and less support for vulnerable people. To make matters worse, the Conservative Government rejected our Levelling Up Fund Bid earlier this year, which would have transformed the High Street and helped areas like ours that have been left behind. Instead, affluent areas like the Prime Minister’s own constituency received millions of pounds in funding.
