Paulette recently had the honour of speaking in Parliament for the Black History Month debate, a moment that held special significance given this year’s theme, “Reclaiming Narratives.” For Paulette, Black history has profoundly shaped her own journey, helping pave the way for her to become Birmingham’s first Black Member of Parliament.

Reflecting on her path, Paulette shared insights from the Black History Month event held in Birmingham Erdington, and spoke about her inspiration, Mary Seacole – the remarkable nurse who, despite facing discrimination, cared for soldiers during the Crimean War.
