Paulette Hamilton Labour MP for Birmingham Erdington
In a recent decision, Birmingham City Council refused the application that would have converted a family home on Danesbury Crescent into a four-bedroom House in Multiple Occupation (HMO). This outcome marks a victory for the local community, who have been campaigning with me against the proposal, citing concerns about potential impacts on neighbourhood character, parking and safety.
The full details of the decision can be found in the http://eplanning.idox.birmingham.gov.uk/publisher/mvc/listDocuments?identifier=Planning&reference=2024/04774/PA
This outcome wouldn’t have been possible without the overwhelming support of local residents. Thanks to a petition, which gathered an impressive 256 signatures, the we were able to demonstrate to the council the level of local concern surrounding the proposed HMO. The Council’s refusal highlights the power of collective action and the importance of standing together to preserve the character and wellbeing of our neighbourhoods.
Thank you to everyone who signed the petition and showed their support. Working together, we have shown that our voices can make a difference!
