Paulette Hamilton Labour MP for Birmingham Erdington
Paulette recently had the opportunity to speak in Westminster Hall about the devastating impact road collisions have on our community and the lasting effects they have on the lives of those involved. Every accident leaves a permanent mark, not only on those directly affected, but also on their families, friends, and the wider community.
While the West Midlands Mayor has made an important step by appointing the UK’s first Road Safety Commissioner, there is still much more to be done to ensure the safety of our roads.
Recent incidents within our community have highlighted the ongoing risks we face. Just weeks ago, a young man was hospitalised following a serious accident near Castle Vale. Our thoughts are with him and his family as he recovers. Additionally, we tragically lost a young life on Tyburn Road in recent years, a heartbreaking reminder of the dangers on our roads.
These incidents are a reminder of the need for continued action.
