Paulette Hamilton Labour MP for Birmingham Erdington
Erdington’s fightback against crime became a national blueprint today as Paulette Hamilton MP led a Westminster Hall debate on police presence on high streets, championing the lessons of Operation Fearless, the groundbreaking initiative that restored safety and pride to Erdington High Street.
In her speech, Paulette said, “Change is possible when we listen, act, and invest,”
Paulette’s speech highlighted how targeted policing, community partnerships, and funding turned the tide against antisocial behaviour, drug crime, and violence. The operation, funded by £880,000 seized from criminals, delivered 140 arrests, removed weapons from streets, and saw a 25-year-old jailed for Class A drug supply.
One shopkeeper said, “For the first time in years, I feel hopeful,” a sentiment shred amongst many shopkeepers and residents.
